Maksim Chmerkovskiy has yet to claim a Dancing with the Stars title, so what’s a pro dancer to do? Go for an even bigger title: the Superstars crown. Chmerkovskiy is one of eight celebrities who will be paired with eight athletes in the ABC series (premieres Tuesday, 8 pm/ET) to compete in sporting events to determine the best athlete in the world. “It’s an opportunity to do something outside of the dancing realm and to do something and not be judged,” he tells TVGuide.com. “Nobody can say [in Italian accent], ‘That was not very good!’ There’s no voting, there’s no Bruno, there’s no Len.” Chmerkovskiy, who will hit Broadway July 25 with fiancée Karina Smirnoff in Burn the Floor, is paired with freestyle skier Kristi Leskinen. See what he has to say about his first meeting with Leskinen, how wedding plans are coming along and his infamous remarks about Melissa Rycroft’s inclusion on Dancing last season.

5/19 Dancing with the Stars Finale: The Winner of the Mirror Ball Trophy is…

shawn_mark

Shawn Johnson is the youngest competitor in the history of Dancing with the Stars. In tonight’s season ender, she makes history as the youngest competitor to ever win the coveted ‘mirror ball’ trophy along side season 6 winner professional dancer Mark Ballas.

Shawn is also the third Olympian medalist to win in Dancing with Stars in eight seasons. Well, they only had three ever and all three won! Is it their competitive spirit, focus and precision that sets these Olympians apart from other celebrities? Or is it America’s love for the Olympic sports that wins the votes for them? It is interesting to note that Figure skating Olympic champion Kristi” Yamaguchi was the season 6 celebrity champion and she won the title with Mark Ballas.

We thought for sure Gilles Marini and Cheryl Burke would win. They are perfect partners and they came so close. Melissa Rycroft and Tony Dovolani were at their best but it wasn’t enough for the fans.

Shawn Johnson + Mark Ballas = winning combination! Congratulations!

5/12 Dancing with the Stars Three of the Best Revealed for the Final Showdown

ty_chelsie

Tonight was not a close competition. Why? Because last week, they eliminated a real talent and left behind a wanna be. We like Ty, but he isn’t in the same league. Lil Kim was. We have no idea what the audience was thinking. All they did was make it easy to kick out Ty this week.

There were no surprises. Melissa came in next to last, and you know, in this competition, that is close to right. Melissa is spectacular. We think she has all the correct moves and the chance to be a professional, but in this instance, she is number 3.

Gilles and Shawn are the two stars here. And when they put it all on the line, there is not one person in DWS history that matches either of them.

That said, we love Shawn best. She is America’s sweetheart. She has only one problem, she is short, and she makes it up by hitting every stride and rhythm despite her shorter stature. It seems obvious to us that this competition comes down to Gilles and, well, it belonged to Gilles. Either way, we would be happy with the result. May the best ‘dancer’ win!

5/05 Dancing with Stars Elimination Shocker, LiL Kim and Derek Hough NOT in the Semi-finals!

lilkim_derek

Lil Kim was our safe bet going into at least Top 4 in Dancing with the Stars. She has had some strong performances throughout the competition and been a consistent high scorer in the judges board. Being partnered with current professional champ Derek Hough should have also added to creating a winner out of her.

We can’t fathom how Ty Murray managed to outlast Chuck Wicks in April 28 results and now Lil Kim going into the semi-final rounds. Sure he is perhaps the most improved dancer but still that doesn’t make him one!

We didn’t realize a rodeo athlete could have so many fans over a rapper/singer and a country music singer! Or is it the Chelsie Hightower magic and “beginner’s luck” debuting into Dancing with the Stars as a professional partner? We’ll see but they must go.

A Gilles vs Melissa is more like it or perhaps a Gilles vs Shawn in the finale. We can see Gilles in the finals loud and clear but we’re seeing a battle between Shawn and Melissa for the Top 2 spot. Oh at least this is getting exciting! Our issue is that performance nights compete with 24 and results nights with American Idol, it’s very hard for us to follow this show!!
