You Might Recognize These Movies, But Once The Music Starts, They’ll Never Be The Same

Classic dance numbers in movies are unforgettable. Who can forget seeing Gene Kelly spinning around that light post in Singin’ In The Rain? It’s a scene that will live on in cinema history forever.

Well, one creative mind decided to mash up these classic dance moves with contemporary music. In the process, this creator breathed new life into the performances we all know and love.

Even though “Uptown Funk” was only released earlier this year, it has a timeless feel that goes perfectly with these awesome routines. People should do things like this more often! It’s always good to nod to the performers who still inspire dancers and musicians to this day.

They Created A Home Theater On A Budget, And It’ll Make You So Jealous

One of the biggest signs of wealth and class is having a home theater. After all, a place to watch movies without interference is something that most people want.

Well, these people somehow created one on a budget. They put together a theater room in their basement, and they only spent $100 in the process. Check out how they did it, and be prepared to be amazed.

This is how the basement started out.

It was an empty room devoid of character.

First, they constructed a white wall to serve as a projection screen.

They added some seating to make it comfy.

They also made sure that the couch was up high enough to make for a great viewing experience.

var OX_ads = OX_ads || []; OX_ads.push({ slot_id: “537251602_56eb95fdafce4”, auid: “537251602” });

They put in additional side seating, too.

They even threw a hammock up on one side, because why not?

They then built the hanger for their projector.

And they used curtains to darken the room.

Putting a black curtain behind the projection screen provided a bit more contrast.

var OX_ads = OX_ads || []; OX_ads.push({ slot_id: “537251604_56eb95fdafe58”, auid: “537251604” });

The room was nearly complete.

They just needed a little mood lighting.

This really makes it feel like a theater.

After that, all they had to do was play the movie!

The project made their basement infinitely better.

Here’s the final product! Impressive, right?

This is totally awesome, and I want to do something like this immediately. Will you try this out in your home?

They Stumbled Across Something In The Snow What It Was Will Shock You

This family was walking home when, suddenly, they stumbled across a lump in the snow. Unsure what it was, they began digging and digging until finally they happened upon a cat that was buried beneath. The cat was frozen and they had assumed all hope was lost, but they attempted to rescue it anyway.

Miraculously, due to their efforts, the kitten survived!

The kitten was found and was described as “lifeless, but not stiff.”

They used CPR after warming the kitten up to revive it from its frozen state.

Here is a video of the whole rescue (prepare for warm fuzzies):

(via Bored Panda)

This little miracle was promptly named Lazarus and adopted by the family who brought him back to life. Maybe this kitten will hold the key to the cryogenic freezing technology that has appeared in sci-fi movies for the past few decades!

Ridiculous Movie Mistakes That Weren’t Fixed…Did You Notice Them?

If you’re a movie aficionado, you probably thrive on finding mistakes in plots, scenery, and all-around logic. It’s probably the only thing film buffs like more than the movies themselves. The tiny mistakes that go unnoticed to everyone, even the director, until it’s too late are like little golden nuggets when you uncover them.

Check out a few of our favorite film-editing flubs below…did you catch them when you originally watched the movies?

In “Jurassic Park,” when this raptor opens the door, take a close look at its butt. No, not like that, you weirdo. You can see someone place a hand on the tail to make sure the dino doesn’t tip over.

There’s a scene in the background of “Back to the Future Part III” where one of Doc Brown’s kids points to his crotch in a very strange way.

During this fight scene between Harry Potter and Draco, when Draco falls off the table, a camera man can be spotted in the crowd of onlookers.

var OX_ads = OX_ads || []; OX_ads.push({ slot_id: “537251602_5714477e5c574”, auid: “537251602” });

This classic Star Wars blooper made it into the movie. Watch the stormtrooper on the right — you’ll see that he hits his head on the door quite obviously.

“Gladiator” is apparently full of mistakes. One example that you can see here when the horse moves his face is a man in jeans trying to get out of the shot before being noticed.

Can’t get enough? Here are 20 movie mistakes that are so rewarding once you spot them.

(via Sploid)

Now that you realize how many mistakes are in movies, you’ll probably keep your eyes peeled for them going forward. It might change how you watch films altogether, but if you catch a mistake, it’s so worth it when it comes to these mega-budget movies.

They Might Look Like Two Normal Guys, But When You Find Out The Truth, You’ll Be Amazed

Now that Halloween is over, it’s fun to recap everyone’s amazing costumes. Since the spooky holiday has come and gone, there’s no more competition involved. We just get to sit back and enjoy looking at the completely epic ideas that people came up with.

This father-son costume might just be the best of the bunch. Instead of dressing as celebrities or zombies, they decided to dress as each other. The resemblance is uncanny. You need to see this to believe it.

(via Today)

What an awesome idea! I’m sure they fooled everyone…which definitely could’ve gotten weird. So what do you think? Will you give something like this a try next year?

It Looks Like A Normal Hill On The Countryside, But Look Around And You’ll See The Truth

If you’re a fan of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, you’ll be interested to know that some of the things from the books are actually real. Okay…sorcery and elven magic sadly still don’t exist, but one aspect of the books really is coming to life.

Green Magic Homes is a company that’s looking to make homes reminiscent of the Hobbit holes that are in the books and movies. They’re built into the sides of rolling hills, and they’re absolutely amazing.

If you fantasize about living in the Shire, now you can.

They’re beautiful and offer magnificent views of the countryside. They’re also eco-friendly, which is always a plus.

Not only are they gorgeous on the outside, but they’re awesomely cozy on the inside.

Check out how amazing this living room is!

Their designs range from simplistic and small…

…to a bit larger and more sophisticated.

And some are incredibly elaborate.

(via Distractify)

If you want one of these homes, you can head over to their website for a pricing guide, and also to have a look at some of the designs they have to offer. Looks to me like this would be an awesome investment!

If You Love Netflix, You’re Going To Need To Check These Codes Out

Netflix is one of the best little luxuries on the planet. You can stream and watch thousands of movies, TV shows, and excellent documentaries (for hours on end, if you like to binge). The site is pretty much ubiquitous throughout the world.

If you really want to take watching Netflix to the next level, you need to check out these search codes. You see, Netflix is designed to show you certain categories that the service thinks you might like, but the process is always based off of what you have previously viewed. If you know how to use these search codes, you’ll be able to see way more options!

All you need to do is add the code to the end of this URL (where CODE is): http://www.netflix.com/browse/genre/CODE

That’s right — binging on Netflix just got even better.

Just try out a few of these codes:

  • 36103 will take you directly to Quirky Romances
  • 4576 will get you to Critically Acclaimed Gory Crime Movies
  • 2443 will show you every John Ritter comedy under the Netflix sun (which, unfortunately, they appear to only have one, currently)

(via Reddit)

For a full list of the codes, click here (and finally learn how to adequately hack your Netflix account). They’re oddly specific — gone are the days of being in the mood for a certain genre but being unable to find any good movies to watch!

Watching This Video Of A Sea Lion Eating A Shark Will Leave Your Jaw On The Ground

We all think of sharks as the top predators of the sea. They are lean, mean, chomping machines. They’ve had several movies written and produced about them, several documentaries, heck, Discovery Channel has a whole week dedicated to them every year.

But when you see this gang of sea lions take down some sharks, you will start to second-guess their position at the top of the sea’s food chain. This video was taken aboard The Western Pride out of Davey’s Locker Sportfishing and Whale Watching in Newport Beach, CA.

Move over, sharks, sea lions are top dog now.

(function(d, s, id) { var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0]; if (d.getElementById(id)) return; js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id; js.src = “//connect.facebook.net/en_US/sdk.js#xfbml=1&version=v2.3”; fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs);}(document, ‘script’, ‘facebook-jssdk’));

Just look at how ruthless this sea lion is as it attacks these sharks.

Not even an approaching bird can rip the shark away from the sea lion’s jaws.

Best for last: the fin.

Note to self: don’t mess with sea lions.

These incredible moments were captured by photographer Slater Moore — I imagine he felt pretty amazed by the occurrence. If you’d like to see more of his work, don’t forget to check out his Instagram.
