This Bright Flash Was Witnessed Overnight In Siberia — What Could It Be?

On Tuesday, October 25, a bright flash lit up the sky near Lake Baikal in Siberia, Russia.

The mysterious flying object has left many scratching their heads over what exactly it is. At first, people thought it was the ICBM RS-18 intercontinental ballistic missile launched by Vladamir Putin’s military in Orenburg, but that missile testing would have been seen much earlier in the day.

Some experts believe it is a man-made object, while others think it is a bolide, which is a large meteor that explodes in the atmosphere before it touches the ground. Either way, it must have been an incredible (and unsettling) sight for those who witnessed it.

Some are even saying that it may be a UFO. What do you think?

I’m inclined to believe that it probably was some kind of meteor, but who knows? I’m definitely no expert on the subject.

This News Doesn’t Bode Well For Avoiding An Asteroid In The Future

If you were around back in the late 1990s, you probably remember the brief love affair that America had with asteroid disaster films (“Deep Impact” was clearly the superior film). The movies brought an awareness to the general public of the possibility that Earth could be destroyed at any moment by a random, giant rock from space.

googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display(‘VN_PG_DCBP_ATF’); });

Luckily, we have the folks at NASA watching out for us and keeping an eye on the sky. With all their great technology, there’s no way an asteroid could possibly sneak up on us…right? Well, that’s where you’d be wrong.

This week, NASA researchers spotted and catalogued a rather large asteroid by the name of 2016 QA2. Barely hours after it was first spotted, QA2 zipped by Earth, at a distance even closer than our moon.

googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display(‘VN_PG_DCBM_BTF’); });

Luckily, in the case of QA2, even if it had struck Earth, the damage would have been minimal — at least compared to the kind portrayed in various Hollywood films.

Unfortunately, there are a ton of asteroids out there. Which makes it kind of an impossible task to spot and catalogue them all.

To protect Earth from further asteroid impacts, Congress tasked NASA with an ambitious goal to be able to detect 90 percent of all asteroids 450 feet in size or larger by 2020. Sadly, funding shortfalls have put a damper on accomplishing this on time.

Alright, now that is terrifying. Just another daily reminder that life on this little rocky planet of ours can end at any second for really any reason at all.

They Were Waiting For Takeoff When This Group Of Men Did The Coolest Thing

Delayed flights are the worst, unless a little in-flight entertainment comes along. Sadly, that’s a rarity.

Being trapped on a plane can be such a drag. You’re stuck in a cramped space, you’re probably next to an unhappy baby, and the impatience factor rises by the second. Things are considerably less awful, however, when people on board start getting creative. The talented gents in this video decided to use their skills to make everyone’s experience so much better!

I feel like flying would be exponentially less awful if this became a regular thing, don’t you? It’s always nice when people go out of their way to help others out in less-than-pleasant situations.

This Guy Just Built The Most Beautiful TV Wall For Under $200

TV stands work well to hold your electronics, but most of them aren’t really nice to look at.

My TV sits on top of my dresser, but I’ve always wished that I had the time to build an awesome wall mount instead. While that definitely isn’t going down anytime soon because of my epic laziness, this guy made it happen without even spending a ton of money.

Imgur user cwdobbins took the idea behind floating beds and used it to craft a seriously cool wall mount in his living room. The best part is that he did it all for under $200!

This space was transformed into entertainment heaven after he was through with it!

googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display(‘VN_PG_DCBM_BTF’); });

First, he bolted a piece of wood to the wall, creating a French cleat that would safely support the combined weight of the floating wall and TV.

Then he hammered and welded a steel frame together out of angle iron.

He wanted a cool backlight, so he installed LED strips onto the frame.

Next, he cut some wood boards to size and sanded them before staining each piece.

googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display(‘VN_PG_DCI1_BTF’); });

After applying some polyurethane finish, he got to work on screwing the boards into the frame.

When all the boards were attached, it was finally time to hang this beauty up.

It was too heavy for him to lift on his own, but his transmission jack turned out to be perfect for the job.

In order to keep his TV’s electronic accessories off of the floor, he welded more angle iron into the shape of a box.

Then he created a smaller mount for the case that would be directly attached to the wall.

googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display(‘VN_PG_DCI2_BTF’); });

Lag bolts assured that it would be nice and sturdy.

Then came the fun part — finally mounting the TV!

The only thing left to do was complete the electronics case, so the crafter cut shelving boards to enclose the box.

And for the front door of the box, he installed some hinges.

After staining all the pieces, he screwed that bad boy into the mount.

After plugging everything in, he was good to go!

Not only does he have an amazing TV wall now, but his living room looks so much classier!

I am so completely jealous of him.

Something tells me that cwdobbins is going to have a lot of trouble ever leaving that room. If you’re dying for your own floating TV wall, you can find the full instructions here.

15 Things That Actually Go On In Locker Rooms — This Is Crazy (Not)

When it comes to presidential election coverage, I typically try to avoid it at all costs by watching trashy reality shows with a bottle of wine.

However, this presidential cycle has proven to be the gift that keeps on giving, so I decided to watch Sunday’s second presidential debate. Boy am I glad I did, because it was basically reality television — without the table flipping and drink throwing.

During Sunday’s town-hall style debate, Donald Trump talked about the comments he made during a TV interview. He referenced sexually harassing women, but during the debate, he brushed his words off as nothing more than traditional “locker room talk.”

Since Trump’s remarks have sparked controversy with a variety of male athletes, we here at ViralNova thought we’d look into the other kinds of things that go on in locker rooms. It’s quite shocking what we found out.

1. There’s a lot of pumping fellow teammates up for the big game.

2. Not everyone is able to keep cool during high-pressure situations, though.

3. Sometimes you overhear some weird things in locker rooms…

4. For instance, grown men screaming like constipated moose.

5. When it all comes down to it, though, locker rooms are for sports teams celebrating wins.

6. Occasionally, you might hear a teammate pumping themselves up to hit the court.

7. Others choose to simply dance like no one’s watching.

8. Some athletes use their locker rooms as a refreshing place to shower.

9. The locker room can also be a space where a player’s anxiety comes out.

10. Locker rooms can also be utilized for completely pointless — but awesome — displays of athleticism.

11. I know for a fact that the locker room at one high school has served as the prime location to spontaneously break out into song.

12. Sometimes, you can hear grown men crying in a locker room — if you’re really lucky.

13. In recent years, locker rooms have become the prime location for supernatural activity.

14. They’re also the perfect place for a heart-to-heart with your coach.

15. At times, things may get a bit awkward…

Bottom line, I think we can all agree that when someone says this in a locker room…

They don’t mean go sexually assault a woman.

Shaq knows what we’re sayin’.

Firefighter Saves Dying Dog Using CPR…Here’s What The Lucky Pup Looks Like Now!

We’ve all seen movies and TV shows that demonstrate how effective CPR is for humans.

When someone’s heart stops, it’s the first thing medical professionals do to save them. There’s also CPR for dogs, but successfully reviving animals using it is very rare. That’s what makes the story of a brave Romanian firefighter and the pooch he saved so special.

Costache Mugurel found the pup completely still on the sidewalk after his owner was taken to the hospital with serious injuries caused by a fire. Both had suffered from smoke inhalation.

Mugurel gave the dog chest compressions, mouth-to-mouth, and an oxygen mask, hoping to save his life.

var _informq = _informq || []; _informq.push([’embed’, ‘ndn_5854b28a53ea2’]);

He still has a long way to go, but vets posted a video of the dog lounging in his crate and recovering!

I’m so glad there’s a happy ending, and I hope this pupper gets to go home to his owner soon. Share his journey with others who will love this daring rescue.

The Actors Who Played The Lost Boys In ‘Hook’ Pay Tribute To Robin Williams

A little over two years ago, the comedic force of nature that was Robin Williams passed away.

He was a man who brought endless amounts of joy and entertainment to the world, but in the end, the fight against his own personal demons became too much to bear. That was when this planet lost a truly brilliant soul.

googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display(‘VN_PG_DCBP_ATF’); });

Twenty-five years after Williams flew onto the silver screen as Peter Pan in “Hook,” the Lost Boys from the 1991 Steven Spielberg classic reunited for a trip down memory lane and paid tribute to the late actor.

Growing up, “Hook” was one of my favorite movies, so it’s incredibly reassuring to know that the feeling of warmth and love that came through the screen as I watched it wasn’t an act. Robin Williams was simply that wonderful. He may be gone, but he’ll never be forgotten.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year…unless you’re on the receiving end of some pretty horrible Christmas gifts.

Christmas is the day that many children of all ages look forward to the most. Can you blame them, though? Who doesn’t love getting gifts?

But after they’ve anticipated Santa’s arrival and struggled to fall asleep on Christmas Eve, they feel intense sadness if they awake to find a less-than-perfect gift under the tree. Maybe it’s the wrong color or they already have it, or maybe it’s something they never wanted in the first place.

Regardless of what exactly sent these kids into Christmastime meltdowns, you have to admit that it’s pretty hilarious to see kids absolutely lose their marbles over their presents.

1. That face says it all.

2. “What the heck? Who would need this?”
