This Bright Flash Was Witnessed Overnight In Siberia — What Could It Be?

On Tuesday, October 25, a bright flash lit up the sky near Lake Baikal in Siberia, Russia.

The mysterious flying object has left many scratching their heads over what exactly it is. At first, people thought it was the ICBM RS-18 intercontinental ballistic missile launched by Vladamir Putin’s military in Orenburg, but that missile testing would have been seen much earlier in the day.

Some experts believe it is a man-made object, while others think it is a bolide, which is a large meteor that explodes in the atmosphere before it touches the ground. Either way, it must have been an incredible (and unsettling) sight for those who witnessed it.

Some are even saying that it may be a UFO. What do you think?

I’m inclined to believe that it probably was some kind of meteor, but who knows? I’m definitely no expert on the subject.

Some Friends Explored an Abandoned Missile Silo. What They Found is Nightmarish.

There are things you see in movies that you would never do in real life. Near the top of that list might be exploring dark, creepy, and abandoned places. That’s exactly what these friends decided to do.

Last week, a group of friends thought it would be a good idea to explore an abandoned Titan I Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) silo in the Colorado countryside. To say these pictures are creepy is a vast understatement. Just wait until you see the “hydraulic fluid” they found.

Here are the friends approaching the entrance to the silo. This is already getting creepy.

This could have very easily turned into the true story for a very creepy horror movie. Luckily, no one was hurt and nothing too creepy happened. I just hope that it was just hydraulic fluid. Either way, I don’t think I’ll be visiting this part of Colorado anytime soon.

15 Things I Learned About How To Survive The Cold Thanks To The Russian Winter

Cheers.

It’s common knowledge that Russia gets really cold in the winter — in parts of the country, it plunges down to -50 Celsius. -30 Celsius isn’t even a big deal. So there are things you learn to survive.

12/08 Amazing Race 2008 Final: Which Pair Is Worth A Million??

Tonight’s race came down to two couples. It could have gone either way. You have to watch the show to get the tension out of it, our narration couldn’t do it justice. Suffice it to say, Ken & Tina won, second place that is. Nick and Star took the purse. The Frat boys were never in the race.

It was very close with lead changes at every turn, and it kept us on edge throughout.

Congrats to Nick & Star. They took more first place finishes than any other team in Amazing Race history and to win the last race was only fitting. They deserved it.

You our dear readers are right again on this one! Thanks for participating on our poll. See you next season!

11/30 Amazing Race, The Setup For the Grand Finale

The race last week had the Frat Boys finishing last.  Luckily for them, it was not an elimination round, but the bad news was they would have an extra task to execute (a speed bump) this week.  The first place team last week was Toni & Dallas so they got to start first.

Today’s race was through Moscow.  There were no planes, just taxis, trains and buses, which makes for a more exciting show.

First, they had to scramble for cabs to get to a submarine and find an actor that was in The Hunt for Red October.  Toni & Dallas broke out to the early lead, but by the time they made the submarine, Nick & Starr and Ken & Tina had caught up.  They were all basically neck and neck.

The Frat boys looked hopeless, well behind the pack.

They had to travel to a park and count statues to get a number, which, if correct, would get them their next clue.  The number of statues lined up with the page number of a book they would receive if they got the number right.  Each time they guessed wrong, they had to wait another ten minutes before they could guess again.

This was where Nick & Starr really took a nice lead.    They got the number correct right away and Nick found the book store pronto.  Dallas got to the book store second, but he was hopeless with the number.  Tina caught up and she didn’t have the number right either.  She eventually deduced the number and helped Dallas out even though he was on the other team.  Something Ken would scold her for later.

The Frat boys were still behind, but Dallas had lost a huge amount of time.  Still, the frat boys got a cab driver that didn’t know where he was going and took them to the wrong park.  They were really looking like toast.

Nick & Starr already got to the next park with a woman with a pony that had their clue.  They were so far out in front that only disaster could have prevented them from winning.

Dallas was now in third and looking to get back to his mother.  But then he made what could turn out to be a fatal blunder.  He had to take a cab back to meet his mother and left the passports and all their money in the cab.  They were left with no money and no passports.  They had to plead for help to get enough money to take the rides.  They also didn’t read the directions and took a train when they were supposed to take a cab to save money. That wasn’t the correct way to do things.  They were in third still, but the frat boys caught up.  Then another major blow, Dallas and Toni had to go back because they didn’t take a cab.  They would have to beg for more money and hope the speed bump the boys had to perform (a dance with a Russian dance troop) would keep them in the race.

At this point they had to take the subway or the bus to get across town and back. Only Nick & Starr chose the train.   We won’t get into too many details about the train and bus ride, but after it was done, due to jumping the wrong bus, Ken & Tina fell behind the Frat Boys, who had performed their speed bump and were in 2nd place.

Well, Nick & Starr were already finishing while the rest were still riding around on the buses.

The final leg wasn’t all that interesting, but the Frat Boys, despite the speed bump and being behind most of the race came in second.  Ken & Tina had a mild setback at the end, and had to run back and get a missed clue, but still managed third.

The lost money had been fatal to Dallas & his mom.  They didn’t even make the finish and were eliminated.

Next week is the finale.  Winner takes all!!

The 2008 Presidential Debates: It’s Energy Independence Stupid!

The candidates need to focus. We believe there is one primary cause of America’s current problems. It isn’t Wall Street. It isn’t Main Street. It isn’t corruption. Quite simply, it is dependency on foreign oil and natural resources.

There are many nations we purchase oil from; they are not all rogue.  But what nations have led to problems for the US and yet still profit from selling us their oil directly or indirectly?  Iran, and for every barrel we purchase, we support their nuclear endeavor. Saudi Arabia, where most of the 9/11 terrorists were born. Russia, which is now invading Georgia.

Now we even talk about attacking Iran or defending Georgia when it is OUR OIL money that is supporting Iran and Russia.

We are allies of Israel. It puts us at odds with ourselves and our own policies supporting Israel while we depend on her worst enemies for the bulk of our oil.

We realize that we purchase much or our oil from allies and local nations.  Please read our series on natural resources to find out who we depend on the most for our oil, but even those nations have seen their currencies advance strongly in the face of our dollar’s collapse as our economy weakens and our deficit rises.

This election could still go either way, but the advantage is currently with Obama.  We believe, however, there are many closet voters just waiting for their opportunity to elect McCain instead. It is popular to say you are for Obama, or to just hate Bush, but we believe that many Americans that take these positions are really not in favor of Obama’s policies, inexperience and lack of spending discipline.

When Clinton ran for President the first time, he came up with a slogan. It narrowed the issues and allowed America to identify with his ideals and his campaign. That slogan was, “It’s the economy stupid”. It focused his objectives and gathered a nation around him to fix our economic problems.

We face a myriad of problems, but most have been brought on by our dependency on foreign oil.

1. 9/11 brought on by our presence in the Middle East to protect our interests with respect to foreign oil.
2. War in Afghanistan against the Taliban.
3. Two attacks on Iraq, the second of which led to occupation. There is little doubt that many consider this a war over oil. Well, if we didn’t need their oil, it wouldn’t be an issue, would it?
4. A huge Federal deficit.
5. More pollution outside the US because we don’t use our own advanced technologies to tap the resources we need.

It’s energy independence, stupid!

Men And Women Stop Dropping Baton, Win 4×400 Meter Relay for Dual USA GOLD!!

Two teams in the 4×100 Meter did the unacceptable, the unthinkable, the unimaginable. They dropped the baton. If you are slow to take the baton, you may lose a step. But if you drop it, you are disqualified, and someone should have explained this to the team before they stepped on the track!

Fortunately, the American’s learned from their experience. This time, the baton was not going to be a problem. Hopefully, never again would it be a problem for the US in the Olympics. You can come from behind, as Sanya Richards demonstrated, but you cannot recover from the baton hitting the dirt.

The US Women’s team consisted of Mary Wineberg, Allyson Felix , Monique Henderson and Sanya Richards. Sanya had to overtake Russia’s Anastasia Kapachinskaya to win the Gold and it was an exciting race to watch.

The Men’s team LaShawn Merritt, Angelo Taylor, David Neville and Jeremy Wariner broke the Olympic record winning Gold. Wariner looked much happier after this race than after losing to Merriitt in the 400 meter men’s individual event.

The men were very careful to not drop the baton this time. And that care did not make a difference in their winning time. How important is the pass? We hear it in every relay. And someone forgot to tell these guys; they had to learn the hard way.
