Dancing Sets Rehearsal Limit to Curb Injuries

Dancing with the Stars producers have set a rehearsal limit for the Season 9 couples in an attempt to reduce the number of injuries that have afflicted celebrities and pros alike in seasons past.

“They will monitor how long they rehearse for,” a source close to the show tells TVGuide.com. “It’s never been done before.”

Just last season, eight stars suffered injuries, two of whom — Jewel and Access Hollywood host Nancy O’Dell — were forced to withdraw prior to the season premiere. Their replacements, Girl Next Door Holly Madison and scorned Bachelor star Melissa Rycroft, respectively, got injured themselves during their runs.

Other stars who required a doctor’s visit last season were runner-up Gilles Marini, Steve Wozniak, Steve-O and Ty Murray.

The Season 9 cast will be revealed Monday.

What do you think of the new rule? Will it break the so-called Dancing curse, or will it hinder performances?
